Back to school - Now it's time to make Halloween plans

The summer is almost over and -as always- it has gone by way too fast! As the old saying goes, “time flies when you’re having fun!” Hopefully you had a nice, relaxing vacation and you didn’t have to work too hard. But if you’re one of the many parents that work harder on vacation than any other time of the year…you’re not alone. Keeping up with the little ones can be hectic. But as much as the kids dread going “back-to-school” in September, sometimes that’s what parents look forward to most of all.
Don’t feel guilty…I’m sure most moms and dads breathe a sigh of relief when the bus pulls up to pick them up on the first day of school. Not only do we have the added stress of making summer plans and the financial burden of taking the family to theme parks and water parks (not to mention the insanely high gas prices) but then, when we near the end of the season… we have to head to the mall for every parent’s worst nightmare…school shopping.
With all the stress of summertime and back-to-school shopping, it’s hard to think too far ahead. But as quickly as the summer flies by, the holidays also seem to come in the blink of an eye. And we all know which holiday the kids look forward to most. Halloween shopping!

We all know (probably too well) that last minute Halloween shopping is a nightmare. A little pre-planning can really go a long way in preventing Halloween mishaps. Make sure that your kids (and yourself if you’re dressing up this year) know exactly what you want to be at least a month before Halloween. My theory in making that BIG, IMPORTANT decision is “the sooner, the better”. When you know exactly what you’re looking for there is much less of a risk of not finding what you need and want. Most people shop for Halloween costumes and accessories too close to the big day and end up disappointed that they can’t find the size or style that they were looking for. Start thinking and planning right now!
Do you have any ideas yet? If so, what are they? Maybe your kids are still too little to come up with their own ideas and you still get to decide for them. Or maybe your kids think they’re old enough to decide but have the most outrageous (and hilarious) ideas that are nearly impossible to put together. No matter what ideas you have or don’t have…the most important thing is to be safe and HAVE FUN. Happy Halloween!
